Christmas Day Summary

I'm quite a few days late blogging about Christmas morning but better late than never. Kayla was so sick all night. She had the worst stuffy nose and could barely breathe. She also had a fever, sore throat and head cold. She kept coming up and asking for a drink or her nose to be blown. I finally ended up going down and laying by her until she fell asleep.

In the morning, Jaida was the first one up - around 8am. Then Joey finally woke up, and then Kylan. Kayla was still asleep down in her bed so we all went down to wake her up. She was really hard to wake up and we sang some Christmas carols and everything to her. Jaida kept saying that Santa Claus had come too, but it really took us awhile to get her up. When we finally got her up she tripped going up the stairs and started crying. At the top of the stairs she said, "Mommy I'm going to throw up!" So she did.

After cleaning her up and having everyone get in clothes and brush their teeth we let them go to the living room. We opened up our stockings first and then broke into all the presents.

I got a new video camera! Yay! SO EXCITING!! Jaida got an easy bake oven, Kayla got a Nintendo DS, Joey got a remote control car and a big Buzz Lightyear, Kylan got a ring toy and Monty got a bunch of pants (wow, exciting, huh?).

Misty got all the kids a car race track. They LOVE racing cars!!!

After playing around with our new toys for a bit we packed up and drove to Grandma and Grandpa Sitthichai's. Kayla, Joey and Kylan all fell asleep for the entire drive, yay!

We got there just in time for dinner. We were excited that we got to see Glom, Prae and Chris, and also Tara, Eric, Maia, Cody and Garrett.

After dinner we got to open presents again! The kids were going crazy and there was wrapping paper flying all over. I don't think I remember seeing anyone open anything - just what they got after the paper settled. Hahaha...that's kids for ya!

Kayla was still sick the entire day. We'd have to give her ibuprofen to bring her fever down and then when it broke she'd be bouncing off the walls!

The next day, Sunday, Uncle Richard and Aunt Lynda came down from Salt Lake and Uncle Richard got to play Santa Claus. We had a great time visiting, a great lunch and received some great gifts!

Then we went over to Grandma and Grandpa Fielding's. This time Jaida played Santa Claus and handed out all the gifts. Monty finally got what he's been wanting for two years! A gps that goes in the car.

Christmas was really fun and the best part was seeing all our family!

Sewing Project: Animal Scarves

My whole family loves it when I sew. They all gather around and all the kids want to push the black foot to make the needle go. If they can't do that they'll put their finger on the wheel on the side that turns. They'll say, "Go faster!" Kayla will turn the light on and off for me...they're all really big helpers. Monty loves to watch too, I think he's just interested in the mechanics of it. But then he'll look over my stitches when I finish and make sure everything looks right.

These are three of the scarves I made for the neighbor girls. They turned out really cute and ended up being so fun but sewing them was at times a HUGE pain.

This scarf was Sidney's.

This one below was Hannah's. She is 11 and I thought the fuzzy scarf would make it nicer for an older girl. The fuzzy stuff kept getting caught in the foot on the sewing machine and really caused problems. But it is so soft and silky - I really like it.

This frog scarf was Jenna's. I love the bright colors!

I also made another like Hannah's that was a red scarf with a pink dog. We gave that to Maia and she wore it all day and night (yeah that made me proud). :)

Kayla got a cute unicorn and Jaida a blue dog. Oh and the first one I made was another frog scarf. One of these days I'll take pictures of Kayla's and Jaida's to post.

THANK YOU MOM FOR TEACHING ME TO SEW! (even though I hated every minute of it)

MERRY CHRISTMAS!! Day 25

Whew...MERRY CHRISTMAS! What a lot of time, energy and money to get here! All the kids are having a blast and are LOVING Christmas morning - so Monty and I are happy too!

I GOT A NEW VIDEO/STILL CAMERA FOR CHRISTMAS! I'm so excited. I can't wait to upload pics and play with my new camera.

I just finished up a little bit of work so now we're going to get packing so we can head up to the Grandmas and Grandpas!

Hopefully everyone will start feeling better. We went down to wake up Kayla this morning and when she got to the top of the stairs she threw up! What a way to start off her morning. The rest of us all have sore throats and stuffy noses, blah!

Christmas Eve Day 24

I'm sure everyone's Christmas Eve was as hectic as ours?! Sewing, wrapping, cooking, delivering, shopping, cleaning...am I missing anything? Maybe tomorrow I'll have time to post pics of things we did today. Right now I have to go and lay down by Kayla who is so sick.

I'm posting these pics a few days later. Below is our candle light Christmas Eve dinner - beef stir fry and pot stickers. Fa ra ra ra ra, ra ra ra ra.... Merry Christmas!

Crazy Kayla wanted to try on all the bows we were using to wrap presents.

We sat down in front of the Christmas tree and read children's Christmas stories and then the Christmas story. I wanted to sing carols and watch a Christmas movie and do all sorts of stuff but by the time bedtime rolled around I was to tired to do anything else.

Monty went to the store four times today. Christmas shopping, getting ibuprofen for Kayla who was very sick, getting milk, getting more chocolate to make our Christmas treats and getting veggies for dinner - what a guy!

Shopping, Potholes and Highway Patrol Day 23

Misty told us she would babysit if Monty and I wanted to go down to St. George shopping, YAY! It has been raining ALL week and has been flooding and has just been a mess down there, but we decided to go. Driving through Blackridge you could see small waterfalls coming down the hills by the road. It was really cool to see something like that in our desert climate.

It was just me, Monty and Kylan and we got a lot done! It rained the entire time but still wasn't very cold, thank goodness! We didn't leave until about 10pm or 10:30pm and on the way home the roads were a lot worse and in some places we were hydroplaning. About 20 miles south of Cedar we hit this giant pothole/sinkhole. Scared the crap out of all of us! Just a little bit passed the pothole there was a car on the side of the road with their flashers on - we were pretty sure they hit the same hole. Suddenly Monty could hear our tire deflating and we had to pull over. He gets out to check it and the tire is completely flat.

Seeing too many cars get side swiped on the side of the road he orders me and Kylan out of the car to wait. Luckily Kylan was asleep and we just piled coats on top of his car seat so he wouldn't get cold or wet.

Wow, it felt like cars were FLYING past us! Thankfully it was so late at night that there wasn't very much traffic, but every time a car would start toward us I just knew they were going to hit into the back of our car. After awhile another vehicle stopped a ways behind us to check their tires and eventually a tow truck came to pick up the first car we saw.

Monty called dispatch and let them know about our situation and the pothole. The dispatcher said that they had already filled the pothole today and had quite a few calls from people also hitting it. We probably waited about 20 minutes and a Highway Patrol came to help us change our tire.

My camera phone sucks so I couldn't get any good pictures. The one below is of the High Patrol's car.

When we finally got home at midnight, the house was spotless! Misty and Jaida had cleaned upstairs and downstairs! Misty had washed the dishes and all the kids were asleep. Misty told me that all the kids helped clean and I just couldn't believe it...and she didn't even yell at them.

I don't think we went to sleep 'til about 1am or even 2am - it's all a blur right now. We're just very, very grateful we got home safe and that nothing worse happened.

Only THREE Days Left! Day 22

Here I sit at the computer having to do an emailblast and not wanting to work at all today. So that means it's taking me double the time to do this! Bleh! I'm just waiting for a reply email so I thought I'd do a quick Day 22 entry before it gets too late.

There are still way to many things to do before the big day. Yesterday I probably spent about two or three hours downstairs sewing animal scarves for the neighbor girls. Next year I HAVE to choose something easier or start earlier. Which reminds me that I need to take pictures! I just have one more animal to sew on and they're done! They turned out really cute but I should have finished them a looong time ago.

We still have some friend/neighbor gifts to deliver and then there's the wrapping, planning, strategizing... and we still haven't watched The Christmas Story! I'm sure my kids will whine and complain the whole movie but at least me and Monty can have a laugh.

Our area is having a brown Christmas this year (because of all the mud). There has been so much rain that it's flooding in places and there have been four houses that have washed away!
You've got to check out this photo of The Emerald Pools at Zion National Park.

Just an hour and a half north the snow is so bad that they canceled school today! Weird winter weather...

Merry Muddy Christmas!

My Merry Carolers Day 21

Happy Winter! I didn't realize the first day of winter was in December. It sure was warm!

I sent Jaida, Kayla and Joey down to one of the neighbors to give them our Christmas neighbor gift. I didn't even think of taking a picture, so just imagine this. Jaida was wearing a long sleeved shirt, shorts, polka dot rain galoshes and a black umbrella. Kayla was wearing a purple and gray striped dress with brown Hannah Montana cowboy boots and a pink Dora umbrella. Joey wore pants, shirt, boots and a spider man umbrella. No coats, hats or gloves...it was pretty warm for a wintery, rainy day.

So I sent them off, down the street with Kayla barely holding on to the tin-foil wrapped plate.

I headed to the bedroom to take advantage of the quiet and put Kylan to sleep. After awhile I hear little kid voices and I think "Oh no, they dropped the plate and are coming back for more." But listening really close I can hear singing.

Monty comes in and says, "Did you know your kids are walking down the street singing Christmas Carols?"

And I missed it! I could have been recording them, taking pictures of them or just watching and listening. I'm sure it was quite the site, our little orphan-dressed children singing carols under umbrellas and strolling down the road.

A little bit later Hannah, Sidney and Jenna came over to play. When I left to get my hair cut I told Monty to send all the kids out to deliver the rest of the gifts. So five little girls headed out to sing sing Up On The Rooftop to Duane Raymer, We Wish You A Merry Christmas to Rhetta Nelson (Jaida said Rhetta joined right in), Jingle Bells to Don Harris and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer to Reed Rowley.

Awe, good times., I love my neighbors. I wonder how long I'll be able to keep my kids caroling them?

It's All About Respect Day 20

Yesterday Kayla yells from the bedroom, "Mom, Jaida put her foot in my face!" So in return I said, "Jaida, you know how I feel about that, don't do it again." Then Monty comes around the corner and say's that it's really not that big of a deal and that it's the "Thai" coming out in me.

I think that as little of a thing as it may be, it is something my kids should not do. I want my kids to be respectful, and I'll admit that they need a LOT of work. Something as little as not putting your feet on people, not pushing buttons with your feet, etc, etc. is in the "respect category."

Feel free to let me know your thoughts...

Yesterday Jaida got to go to a Hannah's birthday party, so we took the kids to play at Del Taco's play place. My kids go WILD in that place and Joey just loves to hear himself scream. He and Kayla were running around with a bunch of girls and Joey would find them and just sit there and scream. I went in there once and told him not to do it, but five minutes later he was back at it. A family even left to sit outside of the playroom because it was so loud. I can't blame them though. The play place is completely enclosed in glass and when they scream it is deafening.

Monty helped me finish making our neighbor treats last night but we couldn't deliver them. We have a lot of older couples on our street and I want the whole family to go and sing Christmas carols to them. It was way too rainy to take the kids out, so hopefully tomorrow we can go.

I Can Sing Louder Than You Can Day 19

We were late for church again today. I was busy getting Kayla's primary talk ready and a little craft ready for our nursery kids. So when we loaded up it was well after 1pm. We got there just in time, the Primary kids were singing! Oh man, these are the days I wish I was recording. Kayla gets up right in the front row and immediately starts waving and smiling as big as she can. When they started singing I couldn't believe that both Jaida and Kayla knew every word to the songs. They were both singing so good when all of a sudden Kayla starts singing really loud. Then I think she liked what she heard and just kept singing away. At one point when they were singing the ending word of a song I thought she might break out her opera...too funny (and a little embarrassing)! Kayla did a great job giving her talk - only goofing off a little at the beginning.

When we got home I made a really good chicken parmesan, then started making more treats for neighbors. We all went to the Mendenhalls and sang "We Wish You A Merry Christmas." Adam clapped and Bobbie yelled for us. Hahaha, lots of fun!

Question: Are kids disappointed that they don't get everything they asked Santa for? Or do they even remember what they've told Santa the many different times they've sat on his lap or the many different letters they've written?

Race Night Day 18

We used to do this EVERY night when Monty first made this race track. They race all the cars to see which one is the fastest. During and after the race the kids climb up it or turn the track over and use it for a slide.

Today Monty took each of the girls out to get Christmas presents for each other and Joey. When I asked what Kayla got Jaida he said that she just wanted to look for stuff for her so he ended up getting her something.

Did I mention that Kylan now has two and a half teeth? Have I ever mentioned that Joey will say/yell, "DON'T COFFEE ME!" When someone says or sings what he's doing. It's so funny!

Two more weeks 'til I don't have to blog every day! Yay! I think I'm more excited for that than Christmas. hahaha

Candlelight Bath Day 17

No, no not me, the kids. :)

Jaida has all of a sudden refuses to take baths, especially if she's going to be washed. She'll ask, "Am I going to get washed?" "Yes." "Then no way am I getting in." So I have had to actually pick her up and put her in the bath or shower. So anyway, tonight Monty had lit a candle in the bathroom and I said, "Hey, who wants to take a candlelight bath?" They all were SO excited and and I had to take a pic.

I tried to get a picture of Kylan just standing outside of the tub but when he walked in he slipped on the floor and landed on the back of his head. I picked him up gave him loves and then walked into the bathroom. He immediately stopped crying and wanted to get down to play in the bath. I put him on a towel in front of the tub and stepped back to take a picture. Monty's standing there saying, "He's gonna fall in. He's gonna fall in." And all of a sudden I'm yelling because he's falling in! Luckily Jaida grabbed him fast, but he fell in head first and was SCARED TO DEATH!

The below picture is REALLY bad, and I played with it quite a bit to get it this good. But if you look close you can see Kylan with his diapered bum in the air and his legs out to the sides, falling into the tub. The stripe of white just above the toilet is his diaper (in the lighter circle) ...scary!

More pictures I've been wanting to post.

Here is me and Joey playing cars in the dollhouse. Right now we're in the kitchen cooking. I just know that when he get to be a teenager he's going to hate this pic, but I LOVE IT! Hahaha!

Every time we play cars the "Big Giant Baby" attacks the house!

Kylan gets braver and braver every day. He LOVES to climb (just like Kayla did). The other day I heard him in the bathroom and went to investigate. He had climbed onto the toilet with the lid OPEN, and had a dropped a toy inside.

A New Day, A New Name Day 16

As you can see I have renamed my blog and given it yet another face lift.

After my post last night I went to bed thinking, "....Tanya's Weblog... how BORING!" When I created my blog...way back in the day, my life probably was a little boring. However now my life and blog are all about my crazy chaotic family life and I need a name to match.

I like "My Four Little Monsters", but I'm not sure I want to stick with that or that it describes all I want it to.

Anyway, let me know what you think and if you have some suggestions for me. I will eventually purchase a domain name to link directly to my blog so it's easier for people to remember.

Picture Of The Day

This morning Kayla came upstairs with her pillow pets. She wrapped herself inside her tiger and was crawling around on the floor. She says, "Look mom I'm a tiger! Actually I'm a tiger ant because I have lots of legs."

Four Little Monsters Day: 15

Joey woke me up this morning. Thank goodness because it was 7:40am. I usually get the girls up at 7:30am, get all their clothes ready, wake them up, fix breakfast, dress kids, do their hair while they eat, pack Jaida's lunch, get backpacks ready, find coats, yell at the kids every two minutes to eat faster and send them out the door.

Ever since Joey discovered how fun it is playing cars in the doll house we usually do that for a little bit after the girls head out the door. He's so funny, he just says, "Mom can you play with me?" I really try hard to play instead of getting on the computer but some mornings it just doesn't happen. About 9am I turn on a cartoon - usually Little Einsteins and nurse Kylan. Usually he'll fall asleep so I have about 30 minutes to an hour to work.

When Kayla got home she runs in the house so excited and yells, "TODAY WAS THE FUNNEST DAY EVER!!" She got to have a read-a-thon and bring a small treat and drink. She said Mrs. Jones told them to find any spot in the room they wanted to sit by themselves and read. She of course chose the middle of the room right in the middle of the rug.

After dinner I had Jaida crying because I made her go to her room, when I went to get her she was sitting on the stairs. Then she didn't want to eat FOUR meatballs! Joey was crying because when he woke up Monty says, "Can I have a kiss?" Turned his cheek towards Joey but when Joey went to kiss his cheek he turned really quick and got him on the lips. We all do this and the kids think it's so funny, but not tonight! Joey cried FOREVER!!!! Kylan was crying and crying and only wanted you to stand up. Kayla had to be heard too so she was singing, making weird noises and talking loud. I look over and Monty is ASLEEP on the couch!

When I created this post I forgot to mention that Kylan got in the fridge, grabbed a container of sweet potatoes, spilled it ALL over the tile and carpet and then slipped and fell in it. I picked him up and put him in the bath tub and he had freezing cold, slimy sweet potato juice ALL over him. Boy did he REALLY cry then! He did love his bath though. :) (oh and Sammo cleaned up the mess - I sure love that dog sometimes)

I Can Still Make Today: Day 14

I have three minutes left of today.

Today I saved our neighbor's dog of being eaten by the mean, killing machine named Blake. I heard Chip barking and barking and barking. I finally went out on the deck and all the other neighbor's dogs were in Chip's backyard. He was hiding between the fence and the plastic swimming pool barking and barking.

Blake had torn through the fence before killing the previous dog. What kind of dog tears through fences trying to get to other dogs? Anyway, I ran over and as soon as I opened the back gate all three dogs slinked back through the hole - well they tried. One couldn't make it so I had to move the bucket blocking the hole so he could go through.

Chip was L-U-C-K-Y! He had dog slobber all over the back of him and a puncture wound in the neck area. I grabbed him and took him home.

Blake has killed one dog, attacked our dog twice, sending him to the vet the first time with stitches - I'm pretty sure I've blogged about that. And he's gone after another dog, on a leash on the walking trail. This is only what I know about - he used to get out all the time so I am sure there are other incidents.

It's this dogs time to go...

Christmas Countdown Calendar Day 13

It's December 13. Arie's birthday, and one of the nicest days this winter. I even hung clothes on the clothesline today. I hope it's nice tomorrow too!

Happy Birthday Arie!

Christmas Countdown Calendar Day 12

Another hectic day of getting the kids ready (by myself) to head home. Jared and Cyndi gave our kids their Christmas presents. They were so excited! Jaida got some really cute galoshes, Kayla got an awesome sparkly, poofy skirt, Joey got a Woody doll (action figure) and Kylan got some cute little shoes.

Joey opens his up and in a high, squeaky voice says, "OH MY GOSH!" It was so funny.

On the way home they got to watch Toy Story 2.

We got home just in time to run to church and go to nursery - which with Kylan and Joey was a complete nightmare. They were both soooo tired and cried most of the time - along with all the other kids it seemed like.

What a weekend!

Christmas Countdown Calendar Day 11

Today was a BUSY day! We started out getting ready for the Christmas party, I forgot that I was in charge of drinks!! A ton of family came, and so did Santa! Clean up went really fast with everyone helping.

We got home, fed my kids because they of course ate nothing at the party, and then rushed out the door to the light parade. The night wasn't too cold and my parents brought hot chocolate, so it was great. The kids, well my kids loved it. Jaida was yelling and clapping for all the entries because it was so quiet, and I told her that the people in the parade love to hear people clapping for them.

The Richfield drillteam walked by with flashlights taped to their hands and Kayla yells something like, "How come they're not going to dance for us?" Then she was yelling for all the floats passing by and Deizha kept saying, "SSSHHHHH!" Then she would try and cover her mouth - it was funny because she really was being pretty loud.

Then we got back to Fielding's and talked and played for awhile, then I loaded up the kids and headed over to Sitthichai's. We stayed up forever playing tinker toys or something - I don't even remember.

Was a fun busy day.

Christmas Countdown Calendar Day 10

Posting early since I don't know if I'll be able to or remember to post tonight. I'm packing up the house to head north for the Annual Fielding Christmas party.

Lots of people + lots of food = good times.

Christmas Countdown Calendar Day 9

Santa Claus is coming to town!

We went to our ward Christmas party tonight and the kids had a blast! The whole place was decked out. The food was crappy but the kids didn't eat anything anyway (surprise), and as you can see from the pictures our "Santa" was pretty crappy too... Our camera died before we could get Kylan's picture - which oh well, we'll be seeing another Santa in a few days.

The great thing about the party was the Balloon guy - dressed as Santa's elf! I asked Kayla what her favorite thing about the party was and she said, "The balloon guy." Balloon guy knows my kids by name - I'm not kidding. They have seen him three times this year and every time he talks to them, asks them questions, and is really a great guy! I really need to book him for some kind of party??

Kayla was having an off night or something. She was being her wild and crazy self and came back to the table crying because she was playing with someone and hit her head. Then she was crying because she didn't like the balloon hat Balloon Guy made for her (I told her she was being so ungrateful ). Then she cried because she couldn't find an empty present box to take home. Then she cried in the van on the way home because Jaida did something to her. At that point I just told her to quit crying... yes, very insensitive of me. (I'm just really glad Kayla had clothes on for this post)

As I was up for the third time this morning nursing Kylan back to sleep and thinking of everything that still needs to be done for Christmas I decided I was starting to hate Christmas right about...... now!

Christmas Countdown Calendar Day 8

Today, each of the kids received a special video from Santa. I made sure to record each of them while they watched their very own video. I only wish I would have had them watch theirs separately.

Kayla's watched her's first. Her video is the longest for some reason - almost 4 minutes.
Kayla couldn't believe some of the stuff Santa knew about her!

Jaida watched her video next.
She wondered how Santa could know she wanted a certain special present.

Joey had just woken up when he watched his video so there's not much reaction there. Still he thought it was pretty cool! The girls were too excited to let him wait and fully wake up.

Christmas Countdown Calendar Day 7

We finally got our Christmas tree today! It feels like we waited forever to get it. We're one of the only houses on the street without Christmas lights too. What scrooges we are this year.

I went to Jaida's school about 1pm and said, "I need to check out Jaida... for a not very important reason." The office staff just laughed and when I told them we were going to get a Christmas tree they all thought it was a pretty good reason. :)

Christmas Countdown Calendar Day 6

I gave my kids an extra hug last night.

About a week ago a friend from the ward lost her second baby. She was born premature, and lived for one hour. I think it was probably the same circumstances for her first little boy.

The other day on facebook I learned that a girl I went to high school with lost her 4-year old to croup. She posted this on her wall:
"Thank you, everyone, for you kind words and prayers. My life is so utterly devestated right now that I don't know how to go on. I know that so many of you love him and miss him too and I'm sorry you have to share in this pain. I'm so sorry. But it has been the love of all my family and friends that make it possible to begin to endure it."
You should see all the words of comfort and love that people have written to her just through facebook. What a great thing to have during such a hard time. What a beautiful little boy she had.

Yesterday I was reading about a family in St. George that lost they're cute little six-year old to a genetic, uncureable disease. When they finally diagnosed him the mom was already pregnant and they discovered the new little baby girl has the same thing. There was the cutest little picture of the little boy laying on his back with his newborn baby sister laying on his belly. So precious!

Then I got the Family Times yesterday and read more about Danny's cute little face!

I saw this on Tracy's wall and wanted to post:

"The Lord compensates the faithful for every loss. That which is taken away from those who love the Lord will be added unto them in His own way. While it may not come at the time we desire, the faithful will know that every tear today will eventually be returned a hundredfold with tears of rejoicing and gratitude." -JOSE...PH B. WORTHLIN

Yes, I have cried a lot the past few days. I am grateful that I believe in Eternal Families and that we will ALL see our family members and be reunited once again.

Christmas Countdown Calendar Day 4

This morning we went to Home Depot for the monthly kids class. My kids pretty much just ran all the way through the store to the location. They love hammering and creating the projects! Today they made picture frames - nothing as exciting as the helicopters they made last month, but still fun!

In the afternoon I took the kids to the Storybook Cavalcade Christmas parade. I had to get after both Jaida and Kayla to GET THEIR SHOES ON! And Jaida did not want to wear her coat either. Hello! It's 40 degrees and they want to run around the street in their socks!

The picture is of Buzz and Woody - I showed Joey pictures of a bunch of the floats and this was his favorite! They had tons of others, you'll have to go to the site to see more pics. Kayla was of course hamming it up for everyone. At one point a pink gorilla came over and was doing the scratching-the-arm-pits thing in front of Kayla and Jaida. Kayla started doing it right back so he gave her two thumbs up and she gave him two thumbs up. They got to give five to kangaroos, frogs, flowers, superman, spiderman, Micky Mouse, Minnie Mouse.... I can't remember everything they had, a ton of characters. The kids had a blast but me and Kylan had had it towards the end and just wanted to go home. The last float was Santa and everyone was excited to him. ALL the kids were yelling, "Santa, Santa!"

Even though I had to do all this by myself all I can say is that I survived.

Christmas Countdown Calendar Day 3 - Karma?

Wow, three days in a row. I'm shocked I've actually stuck with it this long.

We did miss our scripture for the day. I woke up at 8:05am and ended up taking the kids to school.

Now for the karma... Joey got really sick tonight. About 5pm he woke up from a nap burning up. He said he had a tummy egg. :) I tried to get him to eat but he just wanted something do drink. I gave him a teaspoon of ibuprofen and he immediately threw up! Yuck! So then he just slept on the couch until about 8pm. When we were finally able to give him a teaspoon of medicine a little at a time he felt like a new boy and was back to his old hyper self.

I was thinking that he got sick because of all the stuff he put me through yesterday - which I still don't think is funny... maybe in a few more days, but now that I'm really thinking about it, what's worse, throwing up or having to clean it up?

Tonight Kylan was playing FOREVER with two of my white plastic bowls. He kept putting one inside the other. Then he would find a toy, put it inside the bowl and shake it so it would make noise. See? Who says you have to buy toys to entertain the kids?

Christmas Countdown Calendar Day 2

We read our December 2nd Bible scripture this morning, Luke 2:1-7

1 ¶ And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.

2 (And this taxing was first

made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)

3 And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.

4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is cal

led Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

7 And she brought forth

her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

Jaida stayed home from school today. It was actually really nice because she entertained both Joey and Kylan and I was able to get quite a bit done. They went downstairs for a little bit and when they came back up Joey told me he had peed downstairs, ulg! I took Kylan down with me and did a little laundry. Kylan grabbed a toy off the ground and when I went to pick him up I smelled poop! Not little baby Kylan poop, but big Joey poop - GROSS! THAT IS WHAT KYLAN PICKED UP!! Joey had pooped all over the floor, big and little balls of it. So I go around picking it up. And by the way I did not have my contacts in so I was pretty much blind. I looked around all over really close to make sure I got everything. Went back into the laundry room and squish, GROSS! I stepped on a piece that I'd missed. I still think there is more in the laundry room but will have to put on my contacts before I check it out.

So to clarify, my post today is about the cute little monkey in the picture, to help me realize how blessed I am to have such an entertaining, cute, little almost three-year old.

After the whole poop ordeal I was sitting on the couch with Kylan and all of a sudden hear water running. I yell, "JOEY!" He is behind the couch watching himself pee on the floor!! Okay so I grab him, put him in the bathroom and tell him to finish in there. I come back out and start making grilled cheese sandwiches. I start hearing tapping in the bathroom and say, "Joey are you writing on the mirror?" He calls back, "No." "Are you drawing on the mirror with soap?" "No." So I go in the bathroom and he has written in a nice bright blue crayon all over the toilet seat, the stool, the floor, the cupboards, all over the vanity, the counter top, and the door frame. Oh my gosh it was (is) EVERYWHERE!

I put him in his room and tell him to stay. I was hoping he'd fall asleep. No luck there. A while later I get him out of his room and he's playing. After awhile I look over from the computer and he's got a pair of scissors trying to cut Kylan's hair! "OH MY GOSH, JOEY, get in your room!"

Still he does not fall asleep and I let him out. I don't know how much later, but I walk into the living room and he is sitting at the rocking chair with Monty's scriptures tearing out pages!! That was it. I yelled at him to get into his room, again. So he's running past me and for some reason I go to grab his hand, it slips out of mine and makes him fall right into the doll house! He banged his head really hard on one of the corners (luckily it was rounded plastic). So now he's bawling, bawling because of his head and I carry him into his room but still so upset about everything that I'm furious that he got hurt.

Finally he falls asleep and is as sweet as can be when he wakes up. Tonight when I was laying by him he says, "Your da best friend." What a sweetie and what a monster. I sure do love my Joe, I just hope I can make it through his three-year old year.

Now why can't I be more forgetful and forgiving?

Christmas Countdown Calendar: 1 - Introduction

I saw a really cute idea today about doing our own Christmas countdown on my blog! This will MAKE me blog almost everyday this month. Can it happen? We'll see...

This first picture is what I took today after deciding that I would do the Christmas Countdown. You can't tell but only one person in this photo has clothes on. hahaha.... story of my life. I am not sure why, but my kids hate clothes. Now that Kayla is in kindergarten she leaves her clothes on a lot more but I wonder how old she will get before she decides she needs to be dressed always! Now it's Joey, which is worse then Kayla. I really try to keep him dressed, but now that we're potty training - well, you'd just have to have a boy to understand.

This next picture we took after the 4-H Family Night Out tonight. Jaida is in a 4-H after school program. Tuesday's and Thursday's she stays for 1.5 hours and does homework, reading, and fun activities with some college mentors. She loves it! I love going to the Family Night's because they provide dinner and fun activities. Tonight we talked about family traditions, ate dinner and took family pictures. Then they gave us each a gingerbread house kit to do with our families. It was great, it made me think of ALL kinds of traditions we should start doing in our family.

I am excited for Christmas but at the same time not excited. Why does this holiday have to be all about the presents?

My goal this year is to make this Christmas more spiritual, and to help the kids understand why we have Christmas.

The first scripture of the month is Isiah 7:14
Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Christmas Cards This Year?

Hi everyone! I know I was pretty lame last year, but with being so pregnant and already having three kids I had NO motivation to send out Christmas cards. This year Shutterfly is doing a promotion and I can get FREE Christmas cards customized by me!! So now all of you can see how much my kids have changed in two years.

These are the two designs that I am contemplating:

They have about a million more Christmas photo designs that you can see here: http://www.shutterfly.com/cards-stationery/christmas-photo-cards

I love the top card because I have so many kids and pictures! Then I don't have to just choose one. However I love the outline and and text on the bottom card...

As I'm blogging this I'm finding more that I like. Check out this one:

How cute that my pics can be in Christmas tree form? If I use this one I can put a bunch of different pictures of my kids and it's got all the text so all I have to do is address the envelope, put on a stamp and drop it off at the post office. Simple and easy!

This cute card is shown on shutterfly here: http://www.shutterfly.com/cards-stationery/flat-photo-cards. They've got a ton of cute designs. They make it quick and painless to add your photos too.

Expect one of these cute Christmas cards from me this year (I really think I'll use the Christmas tree one) and I'll expect one from you. :)

Mom and Dad, don't look, but I think I just found the PERFECT Christmas present:
I can put all our important dates! They have a few more designs that you can see here: http://www.shutterfly.com/calendars.

Okay, so now that I've given you some ideas for Christmas cards and gifts go get designing @ Shutterfly!!
