Sleepless Nights
Last night Jaida was tossing and turning in her bed and I was trying to sleep next to her. She started pushing me saying, “Go away.” So I said, “Fine,” and got into my bed. Pretty soon she comes over and wants to lay by me. I let her, and I bet for about 30 or 40 minutes she kept tossing and turning. I was almost off the bed trying to keep my distance when I finally got mad and got up to get a drink. I brought the cup back almost full and Jaida sat up so I gave her the cup. It was dark and I couldn’t see really clear, but I saw her take a drink, lie down, and take another drink! I yelled, “Jaida that is not a sippy cup!” But it was too late, and there was water everywhere. I was already mad that I was still awake, and then we had to towel up the water, change the sheets, and find new pillows. We made her sleep in her bed and she cried for a while but stayed there ‘til about 3 a.m. when she came sneaking back to our bed. My advice to everyone is to not let your kids sleep with you unless you have a really big bed.

Reunion Time
Friday June 18, 2004
Today I worked at the Utah Summer Games Track & Field instead of in the office. It was a nice break sitting outside under a shady tent. I was mainly fixing problems with athlete registrations – making sure it got updated in the computer. Ben got there about 11am, they brought us pizza at 2pm and I left about 3pm. As soon as I got home I started packing the car and getting everything ready to go. Tomorrow would be my 10-year high school reunion and I needed to make sure I didn’t leave anything in Cedar City.
We got up to Richfield about 8pm and went to the Annabella church to start decoration. Amber, Dan, and my parents were already there and had almost all of the tables and chairs setup. We decided to setup everything we could so we there would be minimal setup on Saturday. It turned out looking pretty good!

We first met at the park across from the high school at 11am for people to bring their families and chat. Only a handful of people showed up: Edward Jones, Jeremy Winn, Audie Ekker and family, Rachelle Woolsey Jensen and family, Amber Brown Riddle and family, Michelle Hutchings Christensen and family, Liz Peterson Gurney and family, Chandra Landen and family, Carolee Peterson and family, and Tara Sitthichai Chaston and family – oh, and me and my family. I took pictures of everyone’s family except for mine. For some reason I never think about taking my picture. I did get some cute pictures of the kids.

I had Liz Gurney, her husband Lauren, and two kids come and hang out at my mom’s house until the night time activity. She wasn’t going to stay but decided she needed to make better high school memories. We went about 5pm to do a few more minor setups and then waited for people and the caterer to arrive.
At 5:30pm people started to arrive, but still no caterer. About 6pm almost everyone had arrived and were mingling – still no caterer. Finally at 6:15 we decided that Dan and Monty would go get pizza and drinks for everyone. Rachelle and Amber were almost in tears, and I was trying to stay calm. As they were walking out the door here comes Sam with the food. I guess he’d gotten lost.
Well, after that things went really smooth. I welcomed everyone to the reunion, and then we started eating. When the food was just about gone and everyone had started in on dessert I put in the slide show I’d been working on for almost a year. That went really well and everyone enjoyed it. After the slide show we had everyone look under their chairs for a yellow sticky note. Anyone with a sticky note had to go up on stage and be apart of the game show. Rachelle took charge of that. We had about 15-20 questions about events, people and the high school. The game show was really fun – no one could remember the color of the lockers before they were painted or the classmate that had the dirty nickname. After the game show me, Amber, and Rachelle got up and asked for volunteers to do the 20-year reunion. Well of course no hands went up. So after about 20 minutes of pleading we got Lena Rose Vincent, Deanna Gay Ketner, and Maria Bagley Holder to do the next reunion. We told them that they could decide whether or not they wanted to have a 15 or 20. The awards were next, and Amber took charge of those. Mark Oldroyd came the furthest and was the baldest, and Chandra and Terry Landen were married the longest (12 years!), we gave them a bottle of Viagra (it was just jelly beans, but it was still funny). We gave out quite a few other awards, and that was it. People stuck around for about 30-45 minutes, but everyone was gone by 8:30pm. Cleaning up was easy, and we were home before 9:30pm. All-in-all everything was very successful and I wish the next committee good luck!

Sand Hollow
Yesterday after work we went to down to St. George and did some shopping. I returned three maternity items to Old Navy and then bought eight at Target for about the same price - what a bargain!
After shopping we headed west to Sand Hollow State Park. It was a little windy, but the sand was hot and the water was at first really cold. The scenery was awesome, and Jeep loved the red sand. We played for about two hours and then stopped in LaVerkin at a little eatery.

Zion Canyon II
We took Jeep back to Zion on Sunday. We watched “Zion: Treasure of the God’s” – it was really good – even Jaida sat through almost all of it. Then we took the shuttle to Weeping Rock. It was a short semi-easy walk with beautiful scenery everywhere! Next we took the Riverside Trail. It was nice and cool, had a paved trail, and was very beautiful! We should have brought the stroller because we carried Jaida almost the whole way. There were cute squirrels all over begging for food. At the end we let Jaida play in the water while Jeep took pictures and I relaxed taking in all the scenery. As we were leaving we heard mountain goats or something – we couldn’t see them but it was cool to know there were some around. We drove through the Zion tunnels and on the other side was a whole new Zion – I forgot how different the rock and everything was. It was pretty amazing and I we’ll have to go back for a drive down there. We turned around and went into some shops in Sprindale and then ate Roberto’s Mexican. We sat outside to eat and it was nice and quiet and relaxing – even Jaida was behaving.
I would love to post pictures, but my camera has been broken since Friday.

Viva Las Vegas
Friday and Saturday were spent in Las Vegas. We got there around 11am, checked into our hotel, reserved tickets to the ‘Tournament of Kings’ show, and then drove to the Rio for their buffet. The first thing I noticed at the buffet was all the desserts. I got a plate of eggplant parmesean, cous cous, fresh tilapia, and a bunch of other stuff that I can’t remember - I wanted to try some things I’ve never tasted. Dessert was the most memorable. Chocolate pie, banana cream pie, rice crispy treat, tiramisu, mini fruit/custard pie, and a Japanese custard mini pie. Everything was so yummy! After lunch we went to Caesar’s Palace. The Disney Store was having a huge sale – Jeep bought some stuff, and I bought a small Mickey Mouse for Jaida.
The ‘Tournament of Kings’ show was great! First they gave us our food and “Merlin” came out and taught us how to cheer. They served us each a Cornish hen, potato wedges, broccoli, a roll, and a bowl of soup. They didn’t serve silverware – you had to eat everything with your hands. The show was well worth the $50 per person. Afterwards we stayed downstairs and played the kids games. We found a game we could win and I won about seven out of 15 times – not too bad. We went back to the room with a bunch of stuffed dragons and wizard’s hats. Then we walked to the Treasure Island – a walk I will hopefully never make again. We stopped at the New York, New York, M & M’s store, and a Hawaiian market. We watched the Belagio water show from across the street, the Volcano at the Mirage, and then had to sit and wait for the Treasure Island show for 40 minutes. Monty thought the show was stupid, but Jeep and I liked it. We took a bus back to the hotel and were asleep within minutes.
Saturday Jeep and I went to the Excalibur Spa and Fitness Center. We sat in their Jacuzzi for about 40 minutes and then got ready for the day. We spent all day Saturday walking again. We went back to the Disney Store, spent seven dollars in the slot machines, walked around the Venetian, and took pictures at Madame Toussad’s. We then drove to Circus Circus to play more games but it was so crowded that we just walked around and then left. We got home about 9pm but then drove to Beaver to meet Fielding’s and pick up Jaida. So really we got home Saturday about midnight. It was a very fun, relaxing, and exhausting weekend.

Daddy, I stuck!
Our dog Rocky was trying to get into the house one time because we had a different dog in the house and he wanted to get at it. We put him in the backyard and shut both doors. We could hear him whining and barking and scratching at the door, but when we finally opened the door he had scratched a big hole through the screen. Monday, Monty was home with Jaida and hear's her yelling, "Daddy, I stuck!! I stuck, daddy!" He looks into the kitchen and she had stuck both arms and head through the hole in the door and couldn't get out. I wish he would have gotten that one on camera. :)

Memorial Weekend
Saturday
It rained all night, so in the morning it was still cloudy and I don’t think anyone really wanted to leave the house. We didn’t get down to Zion until almost noon. Springdale was packed with cars! Everyone was parking here to take the shuttles in. We told the park rangers we were just going to drive through and luckily found two parking spots at the Visitor’s Center after driving around for a little while. We ate lunch under a bridge – it was nice and quiet – no one was around.

Next we hiked up to the Emerald Pools. Only a few of us made it to the Upper Pool, but it was well worth it – it’s very pretty up there. Jeep and I took turns holding Jaida almost the whole way down. My back hurt so bad that I stayed behind with Grandma and Jaida while everyone else to the Temple of Sinawava hike. For all the walking I did after Jaida we should have took the hike!
It was almost 7pm by the time we got back to our cars. I wanted to stop in Sprindale at all the shops, but no one else wanted to. So we drove home and ate KFC. Everyone left and Monty and I started packing for Moab. We finally left the house about 10:30pm.
Sunday
I bought me some un-maternity clothes this morning. I’m too big for my normal clothes, but feel to small for maternity clothes – I guess only pregnant women will understand that one…?
About an hour after getting to grandma’s house in Moab we headed out for Delicate Arch. The hike wasn’t too hard, but worth every step. It was pretty amazing to stand under that huge arch.
That night we went into all the tourist shops and found a shirt for my cousin Jeep. It said, “Jeep Naked”.
Monday
The guys went golfing, so me, Judy, Jaida, and Grandma Dalton went back to Arches. We went to hiked to Double Arch and Sand Dune Arch – they were nice and short. Jaida could have played in the sand all day at Sand Dune Arch. Then we drove around the rest of the park checking out all the rest of the sites.
