Eloise

Remember growing up and the baby chicks we bought were all yellow? We would write their names on little pieces of paper and tape it to their backs so we'd know which was which. Then when they got older they turned all white and we still couldn't tell which was which.

When we went and got these chicks they had about six different varieties. All the ones we got look different...hopefully they'll stay looking different so they can keep their names. The chick in this photo is Eloise - isn't she cute? Hahaha!!

The Tooth Fairy

Is toothfairy one word or two? Is it capitalized? Does anyone know?? (oh, spell check is telling me it's two words...)

This is a picture of Joey blowing his hardest and trying to make the pinwheel spin. It was so hilarious, basically he was just spitting all over the place and when he couldn't get it to spin he'd drop it to his side and say, "uuuuhhhhh!" in a frustrated tone! I wish I'd gotten a movie of it, although he's been practicing so it won't be as funny next time.

Story 1
About a month ago Kayla lost her tooth. I went into her room the next morning and she was up on her bed with her head hung down and the saddest look EVER on her face. I asked her what was wrong and she cries, "The Tooth fairy didn't come last night." Darn Tooth fairy, this is the 2nd time she's missed Kayla's tooth. She did redeem herself when she left $2 under Kayla's pillow that afternoon. Can you believe that?! Two dollars for a tooth. I got .25 cents when I would lose a tooth and couldn't have been happier. Oh well, wages have increased since then.

Story 2
A couple of weeks ago Jaida lost her tooth. It was Saturday night and I said, "Hurry and put it under your pillow so you don't loose it!" The next morning Jaida came out of her room and almost started crying when she told me that the tooth fairy had not come last night. I asked her if she was disappointed and she said yes. So then we started talking about how maybe she would come during the day sometime and how last night must have been a busy night for her.

So then Jaida says, Mom you need to call the tooth fairy and ask her to come at ten o'clock. I said, "You can't call the tooth fairy." But Jaida insists that I pretend to call her. So I pull out my pretend phone and call the tooth fairy - well she doesn't answer so I have to leave a message.
Hi Tooth Fairy, this is Jaida's mom. Jaida lost a tooth last night and you forgot to come and visit her. We know you are extremely busy so it's okay, but if you could possibly come around 10am we won't be in the room to see. Or if you need more time you could come while we are at church.
Well the tooth fairy disappointed again when she didn't show up at 10 however when we got home from church Jaida had scored $2, some candy and a NOTE from the tooth fairy. Lucky!

Story 3

Sunday morning when we were talking about the tooth fairy and how she'd missed Jaida's tooth and what had happened...Kayla comes up to me and says look at my leg mom. So I look at her leg and she has this big pussy sore - it looks like a spider bite. I said, "What happened?" Kayla says, "I don't know, but I think the tooth fairy bit me." THE TOOTH FAIRY BIT ME! Where in the world does this child come up with these things...she is hilarious!

Baby Chicks

We just got baby chicks today - four. Dawn is Jaida's, Sprinkles is Kayla's, Caroline is Joey's and Eloise is Kylan's. The kids are SO excited!! Kayla will only leave them for a few minutes at a time and just hovers over them talking, cooing, petting and playing with them.

At the store they gave us a happy meal looking box with the four chicks - the whole way home Jaida and Kayla were fighting over who got to hold the chicks. The guy at the checkout said that next time we should ask for two boxes.

I guess that for all the chickens my family had growing up, I don't think we lost any by handling them too much...or did we??

The chicks are so cute - too bad they grow up and get ugly. Eloise walks around for a bit and then all of sudden stops, falls asleep and wobbles around. It's really funny.

Easter 2010

Happy Easter! We had lots of fun this weekend with family. We ate tons of food AND candy. During the weekend I asked the question, "Why is it that two of the biggest holidays - Christmas and Easter, should be more about Christ but are more about the gifts?" Regardless, I guess it's what YOU make it. I've decided that our family needs to be more diligent about putting God first. As long as we have God as our foundation, everything else will work itself out. Ask me in a couple of months how we're doing. :)

Our family has started a gratitude journal. Every time we have family home evening we each write at least one thing we are grateful for. Last week I wrote that I am grateful for the forgiving attitude of my kids. During family home evening I put Jaida in time out - I can't even remember why, and I thought okay, f.h.e. is ruined for the night. When we started writing things we are grateful for she had this really mad, grumpy face and was writing really hard. She just wrote one thing and pushed the notebook away from her. I started asking Joey and Kayla what they were thankful for and writing things down for them. Jaida's face slowly became more interested in what we were doing. Finally she said, "Fine, let me write some more." As she started writing, she got excited and happy. She kept saying, "Mom! I've written 10 things down!" "Mom, I've got 16 things!"

I think she ended up with 23? But her forgiving and quick attitude turn around is something I need to work on and I am thankful for her example. Love you Jaida!!

First Smiles

About a week ago me and Jaida were able to get Kylan to smile at us twice. Now he's smiling even more often. It's so cute and I'm just lucky enough to get a good picture.

Kylan - 2 Months ALREADY!

Snapped this picture the other day. Jaida had been holding Kylan and her arms got tired so she sat him down in the chair and he stayed upright for quite awhile. He is such a cutie and quite the chunk, although I'm pretty sure he eats the same amount the other kids did. I can't believe how fast time flies. Pretty soon he'll be crawling...it just goes too fast. ;)
