Car Counting

Dear Jaida, when I was in college I was given an assignment to stand on a busy street and count how many people in cars I could see were wearing seatbelts. I can't begin to tell you how embarrassed I was - which is why I remember it so well. Today you sat out on the sidewalk next to our busy street with a blanket and a sippy cup and counted how many different colors of cars drove past. Even when the policeman pulled up to talk to you it didn't deter you. You gave him his very own category (police car) and he gave you a police badge sticker which you proudly wore. I hope that you will always be this way!

Who Needs Friends When You Have Me?

Dear Kayla, the other day you came home crying because no one wanted to play with you at recess and the other Kayla didn't want to sit by you on the bus. Just so you know, that hurts my heart! :( Today, all the girls were at Kasei's house and she wouldn't let you play with them. You were so sad and wanted to go to the park to play and visit your "kingdom tree". After watching you play in your kingdom tree and play by yourself I packed up Kylan and headed over to play with you. We had fun swinging, going down the slide, and writing in the sand. After awhile I said, "Kayla, who needs friends when you have me?" She responded, "Yep!"

Just Hangin'

Dear Kylan, I know you'll never remember this, but you LOVE to hang on the back of the couch. You look around at everyone with a giant open-mouthed smile and you are SO happy! I always try to hold on to you in case you fall, but sometimes I just can't be everywhere at once.
We saw that you were about to fall and I tried to get there in time but I all I did was watch you fall out of my reach and hit your head on the bottom of the couch. :(

5.7 Minutes

Dear boys, I look forward to all our future "drives". This one took 5.7 minutes until you were out.
Dear Kayla, I predict lots of baths and lots of ruined clothes in your near future. Spring, water and mud have sprung!

Dear Joey, the other day you wore these goggles ALL morning! I'm not sure what you were thinking, but it was hilarious!

I'm Going Where You're Going

Dear Kylan, most of the time I love that you want to be with me where ever I am!

Doing dishes.
Doing laundry.
Playing while I'm on the computer.
In the shower...
But sometimes I need to lock the door and just be by myself.

When We're Helping We're Happy...

Dear Jaida, before we left Dad told you to help me out. I didn't find this out until you told me at church, but boy did you help me out! You setup all the chairs, took the water to the kitchen, made sure Kylan was okay and then took all the kids out to the van. You are awesome and I LOVE you!

Dear Monty, can you believe Jaida actually did what you asked? Thanks for asking her to do that, you ROCK!

For breakfast we had green pancakes and green milk.

After school we went swimming. I couldn't find my camera so no pictures were taken at the pool. After swimming we ate at Del Taco.

What Do You Want? A Flower

My hometown was having a dinner and auction to raise funds for playground equipment. There was a HUGE turnout and I got to see a lot of people I haven't seen in awhile and talk to an old friend. While the auction was going on they had face painting in a separate room for the kids. After leaving Joey and Kayla in there for maybe 20 minutes I went back to check on them and found Joey bawling his eyes out. He was hiding under the piano, he'd peed his pants and was the most upset I think I've ever seen him. He said that the girls wouldn't paint his face so I asked him what he wanted, "A Flower!" So we go over to one of the girls and they ask him what he wants, "A flower."

Dear Joey, you saw all the girls getting flowers on their cheeks so of course that's what you wanted. It sure wasn't the best flower but it made your night!
Dear Grandpa, thank you for holding Kylan most of the night. I'm still in shock that he let anyone hold him at all - especially for that long. :)
Dear Jaida, you had the best time - I hardly saw you at all. Thank you for helping them clean up by sweeping the floor. Everyone appreciates a hard worker!!
Dear Kayla, thank you for sitting by me to eat dinner and dessert. I think you were the only one that ate. ;)

Big Rock Candy Mountain

We had a great weekend and took a little trip to Big Rock Candy Mountain. I haven't been here in years, and can't wait to go back when the leaves are back on the trees. Plus we'll have to do some geocaching while there.

Big Bums

I just had a "most embarrassing moment" today. We were walking out of the post office and Joey was standing right in the door way. Two (large) people came walking up behind him and I said, "Joey move out of the way." He looks up and moves over to the side and the two people start walking out. Joey turns and says to me (in a not very quiet voice), "Mom, they have big bums."

HOLY COW!! Please tell me what you would do in this situation - besides wanting to die of embarrassment (I already did that).

Joey was so excited to go to Grandma's that he wore his backpack around the house until he finally couldn't stay awake anymore.
