It's Halloween

Today was Kayla's actual due date. Thank goodness I didn't have to wait eleven more days for her to be born! Monty took Jaida to church while I stayed home and got a couple of hours of rest. Monty's parents were here all weekend, cooking and cleaning my house - it was so nice. Plus, Shay is going to work in up in Salt Lake for two weeks so Judy asked if she could take the dogs home with her. The house has been so quiet and relaxed!! At lunch though, Jaida was asking Monty where the dogs were - he turned around to look at her and she was crumbling her cheese on to the floor. Guess we'll have to start cleaning up our messes without the dog's help.

Kayla's umbilical cord finally fell off.

TRICK-OR-TREAT

Jaida had so much fun on Halloween that she fell asleep on the way back from Aunt Misty's house - before she got a chance to go trick-or-treating. We had to wake her up when we got home. She got a ton of candy and she and Monty had fun trick-or-treating together. I stayed home and gave out candy. We got quite a few trick-or-treaters.

Kayla Marie Fielding

Kayla arrived on Wednesday, October 20, at 4:08 p.m. She was 7lb. 9 oz. and 20 inches long. This delivery was a completely different experience from Jaida's delivery. It was 100 times better!! A day after she was born she got a pimply jaundice rash - it looked awful, but in a few days she was okay and we didn't need to take her for any more check-ups.

Mom and Kayla after delivery.

I wanted to post sooner, but for some reason I thought I needed to write out the whole Wednesday story. Hopefully I will be motivated to post more often.

Lost Dog

Last Thursday both of my dogs got out of our backyard. They probably had only been gone 10 minutes when I discovered them missing. So Jaida and I got in the car and drove around for about 30 minutes looking for them. About 30 minutes after we got back to the house Sammo came home - his eyes were bloodshot and he looked exhausted. Monty didn't get home until almost 7pm and when he heard that Rocky hadn't come home yet he went right out looking. Monty kept coming back to the house and then he'd go back out again. He made a "Lost Dog" sign, and went and bought a color cartridge to print out 20 signs. That night he slept downstairs on the futon with both the front door and back door open a little bit in case Rocky came home. I came downstairs and he had a few blankets piled on top of him and was wearing a beanie to keep his head warm. It was cold downstairs! The next morning Monty, Jaida, and Misty went driving around and then went to the animal shelter. They came back to the apartments just north of us and Misty got out to put up the first "Lost Dog" sign. All of a sudden here comes Rocky - running out of one of the apartments. I guess the lady and her daughter found him the day before and were looking for the owners, couldn't find them and were waiting 'til the next day. I'm sure my dogs wish they could run off more often - it's a lot more exciting than sitting around the house all day.

Proud To Be An American

Today my dad will become an American citizen. The Naturalization Ceremony takes place up in Salt Lake at 9:30am. He came to America when he was about 21 to go to college. He first lived in Los Angelos. Wanting to get away from the gang violence he then moved to Salt Lake City with some friends. He has been in the United States about 33 years.

Super Saturday

From 9-2 on Saturday I worked on a bunch of Halloween projects. My parents came down to watch Jaida and brought my little sister and her two kids. Before they came down, I told my mom that my house had been REALLY hot this week. Everything I touched was hot, the chairs, futon, even the carpet! Friday after work I was carrying around an ice pack - it was awful. Monty could feel the heat too, but I thought that maybe being pregnant, the heat was affecting me more. Well, to make a long story short, I was talking to a neighbor on Saturday and we figured out that Jaida had been playing with the electric heat adjuster - it was set to 100 degrees! For the last two months our power bill has also been REALLY high, $80 in August, and $112 for September - all due to the electric heat. For the four years we've lived here we've never used that heat, so it didn't even cross our minds to check it.
Here are some pics of my Halloween projects. There are three more projects that hopefully I will finish one day.

I'm proud to say that I painted these.

37 Weeks

I had another appointment yesterday, and I am happy to report that I am dialated to a "soft one". I think by soft he meant that two was not far off? This is exciting to me because with Jaida I was induced a week early and had nothing happen before induction. I also tested positive for Group B strep, so during labor they will give me antibiotics which will go through my blood and then the baby's blood to help protect her during delivery. My doctor reassured me that since he has been delivering babies and the mother is being treated, the babies have been okay. I know that doctor's do try and reassure you, but it's still one of those things you think about constantly.

Autumn in Iron County

I have a bunch of pictures to post. Yesterday we went up Cedar Canyon and took some pictures of the fall leaves. What we couldn't find were all the red oak trees - I guess we're too late for those. We also got Jaida a little hot wheels trike that she can actually ride now (instead of the bike with training wheels that she got for her birthday). She's almost too big for it and we were going to wait for Christmas but then she wouldn't be able to ride it outside. Enjoy the picutures!
