So it wasn’t celebrated on the 4th – not a big deal. Monty had to work, so Jaida and I drove up to my parent’s house and spent the holiday with them. The parade was in Richfield and we got some spots in front of a gas station. When the parade started we were lucky that Emmett was there because he took all the kids and helped them get candy – he probably had more fun than they did. The parade was really fun, and South Sevier’s dance team totally showed up Richfield’s. They had a salt truck that spit out balls instead of salt, and a float with a ton of kids shooting water guns. Floats were giving out frisbees, mugs, toys, coupons, and lots of candy. I took a bunch of pictures with my dad’s camera and completely forgot to get the pictures before I left.
After the parade we came home, watered the flowers, and made two relish trays. At noon we headed over to the Central Park for food and more fun. I was sitting on a blanket by Ashley eating lunch when I head a noise and all of a sudden black pieces of something came flying and hit all over Ashley and her plate. I could not figure out what happened, but I looked up and saw Jaida standing right in front of us getting ready for another big sneeze. She was aiming right for me and I put my hand out to block it and said, “Nooooo!” Jaida held nothing back from that sneeze. She also got me and my plate with left over olive and carrots. My hand was just not big enough to block everything. Luckily all the big pieces had already come out on Ashley. Everyone was laughing so hard.
After lunch they started the races. I think Nyah won the two-year old race, and Emmett won the three-year old race. Ashley won the 13-year olds. They give the winners two quarters and everyone else one quarter. Then you can go and buy an ice cream treat with your quarter. They had a goat milking contest and then a greased pig chase. Then they had water balloon throw. The kids had a blast and it was nice just relaxing in the shade watching the fun – man, I’m getting old, I used to be out there running and having all the fun. I did get to talk to a bunch of friends that I hardly ever see.
After the park we went home, relaxed some more, pulled some weeds, and then Jaida and I drove back to Cedar. At 9pm we drove behind the airport to an alfalfa field and watched the fireworks. They were set off probably 50 feet from our car and came down right over us. You could hear each firework being shot off, and even our car would shake a little. Jaida got really scared so we sat in the car and watched. It was an awesome fireworks show – I wish I would have brought my video camera so people could really see how close we were. At the end we could hear small pieces of ash and firework hitting our car.
