Jaida loves ants. She loves to sit there and watch them; she loves to smash them and say, “Got ya.” One day she picked one up and said, “Look mom.” I didn’t know what she had so I looked and she had it smashed in-between her two little fingers. I said, “Oh Jaida you killed it, you smashed the ant. Go throw it away.” She looked at it and said, “I sowwy, I sowwy.” Then she put it up to her cheek and said I’m sorry again.
On Saturday my whole family got together – except Arie and Mike. We had a big dinner and had Eric’s parents and Monty’s parents come over. I was in charge of making cookies, but we didn’t have any brown sugar. So I went to the neighbor’s house, Bill and Irene Gray and chatted for almost 45minutes. I left when my mom called, however I didn’t mind the visit or the peace and quiet at their house.
Sunday my class was in charge of sharing time. The theme for the month was responsibilities in our families. We decided, well I decided that love/charity is a responsibility that family members have toward each other, so I got six hats to represent mom – straw sun hat, dad - baseball cap, brother - beanie, sister – a Jamaican knit cap I’d had for years, grandma – pioneer bonnet, and grandpa – a golf hat. The kids thought it was the funniest thing in the world. We sang Here We Are Together while we passed the hats around. After the song, whoever was wearing the hats came up and told something they could do to show love for that person. Then Kurtis would choose a child to come up, pick a service out of a bag, and have to act it out for everyone to guess. We just alternated activities and had a really great time.
