We had an inspector come and look at the house yesterday. The roof is leaking, and there needs to be more insulation in the attic. There is vinyl siding on the front of the house, but hard board siding on the rest of the house. The paint on the hard board is peeling which makes the bottom of the board swell and flip up. There are a couple of other things that also need fixing, but those are the main things. If the seller won't fix the roof Monty doesn't want to buy the home. This totally bummed me out! I like the location (in town), the lot is big, the inside is really nice, and the kitchen is new. I guess we will find out in the next few days what will happen. I certainly don't want to be stuck with some of those repairs, but I really don't want to look for another house either.
On another note, we put Dora underwear on Jaida yesterday before going to the house for the inspection. I kept asking her if she had to go and she'd say, "No." Well, she went outside to play and when she came back in she was wet. I asked her if she had peed on Dora, she said, "Yes." Poor Dora. Our potty training isn't going so well.
Poor Dora shouldn't be subjected to that kind of torture!
ReplyDeleteI can understand that you don't want to house hunt more, but if there are problems the current owner won't take care of, it would be a greater burden on you guys to fix it. Repairs get expensive quickly. You could always ask the seller to knock some off the asking price and then you can get your loan for the same amount and roll the repairs into the mortgage....
